Katie Avery
Katie Avery has been teaching in Whitehorse for 6 years and taught in Toronto, Guelph and Peterborough for many years before moving here. She has a degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto as well as Suzuki teacher training in violin and cello. She plays around town in many groups including the Baroque Strings Collective and the Problematic Orchestra and is also a solo performer. Katie offers Suzuki lessons and RCM exam prep in Violin, viola and cello. Please contact Katie at [email protected]
Keiko Fujise
Keiko Fujise arrived in Whitehorse in July 2013 and soon after joined the music scene in the city. She is concertmaster of the Whitehorse String Ensemble and assistant concertmaster of the new Whitehorse Symphony Orchestra. Playing the violin since the age of 6, Keiko joined a youth orchestra in Japan when she was 12 and continued playing in orchestras after moving to Canada at age 18. She has played in various orchestras across Canada, including the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra and the Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra. Keiko studied developmental psychology in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and hopes to combine her passion for music and child development into violin teaching. She opened her studio in September 2014.
